The Thunderbird established itself by outselling its rival, the Chevrolet Corvette, by four to one in those first three heady years of 1955-57. Then after more than 40 years, a proper two-seat Thunderbird roadster returned.
Riding on the same platform as the Lincoln LS, the 'Bird used the same 3.9-liter DOHC V8, as well. In feathered trim, the engine also produces the same 252 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 267 foot-pounds of torque at 4,300 rpm. The LS' five-speed automatic transmission was the only gearbox available.
The Yellow Bird offered shows just over 60,000 miles, is a one owner from new and has received meticulous service and car. A feature almost never seen is the five volume matched set of memorabilia that could only be ordered by the first owner through the dealer. All records, tools, books etc. are with the car and will pass on to the lucky second owner.
