Callaway Vin 127
This first year Callaway Corvette is one of 180 produced in 1987, and one of only 60 Roadsters. Designated a “B2K” regular production order (RPO) by Chevrolet, it left the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant with various suspension and handling options, and was shipped to Old Lyme, Connecticut to Callaway Engineering for huge engine and further suspension, brake and exhaust modification, along with some badging changes.
The “B2K: option was expensive, at about $21,000. The Corvette itself was only $29,000. The package, with options, almost doubled the cost of the car. The engine modifications included a true racing 350 cu. In. engine, which was topped off with twin turbochargers. This brought the base motor to 345 HP and 475 lbs. of torque. This potent package has a top speed in excess of 175 mph. By 1991, when the Callaway contract ran out, the engines produced 475 HP and developed almost 600 lbs. of torque.
This red example was a Bloomington Gold Survivor in 2010 and is equipped with grey “Dymag” wheels, one of only three such equipped cars. Comes with Bloomington Gold Certificate Plate and big book of photos of Red Callaway and the seller, Red Callaway signing under the hood and much more!
